EBAG members met on 4 December 2025 for EBAG meeting #16.
Updates were provided on the Carp Virus Implementation Planning Working Group and members were asked to contribute to the development of Expressions of Interest (EOI) documents.
Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) presented an overview of the Threatened Species Action Plan and the 2025 “Light Touch” progress report. Released in 2022, the Action Plan sets out 22 targets to guide national conservation efforts, with progress reports scheduled for 2025 and 2027. Members received an update on the current progress against these targets.
Australian Chief Environmental Biosecurity officer, Bertie Hennecke, briefed members on the Inspector‑General of Biosecurity review of environmental biosecurity management and policy implementation. During this session, Bertie reviewed the 8 recommendations made from the findings and how they will be addressed.
All members shared their highlights from 2025 and identified key deliverables for 2026.
The next EBAG meeting will be held online in March 2026.
