Background

New fees and charges were introduced for fish and egg export on 1 January 2012.

On 12 January 2012, the Minister announced a $1.5 million transitional assistance package to support seafood and egg exporters return to full cost recovery by 30 June 2014.

The transitional assistance package afforded a 40% rebate to be applied against the cost of all services provided between 1 July 2011 and 31 December 2011. The remaining funding is applied to discount registration costs under the fee arrangements from 1 January 2012 to 30 June 2014 and National Residue Survey funding for the seafood sector from 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2014.

The registration rebate applied in each financial year reduces, with full cost recovery commencing from 1 July 2014.
