Date issued: 13 April 2005
This Industry Advice Notice is to remind owners/occupiers of registered establishments of their legal obligations to meet the conditions detailed in Part 5 of the Prescribed Goods (General) Orders 1985 and in particular, to comply with hygiene requirements set out in Schedule 1 of the Grains, Plants and Plant Product Orders.
Schedule 1 provides that:
- A registered establishment shall be constructed, equipped and operated in an efficient and hygienic manner
- There is a defined program of hygiene and pest control
- Records are kept and are available for cleaning and pest control measures, and of receivals and loadings so the security of prescribed goods can be checked.
The Grains, Plants and Plant Product Orders specify that Prescribed Goods shall comply with product standards, in particular Prescribed Goods shall be prepared or inspected in a registered establishment, or at premises that are maintained in a clean condition or in a condition that will not cross-infest the goods or contaminate the grain.
Owners/occupiers of registered establishments are also reminded to ensure that inspected product does not become contaminated or infested following export inspection.
