Industry Advice Notice no. 2006/53: Clarification of Ruling - Industry Advice Notice 2006/47

Date issued - 15 December 2006

Industry Advice Notice, IAN 2006/47 was issued following contraventions of the Export Control Act 1982. It has been reported that some exporters have exported prescribed goods without a valid export permit.

The purpose of Industry Advice Notice 2006/53 is to clarify Industry Advice Notice, IAN 2006/47 (Procedures for the Notice of Intention to export and issuance of a Export Permit number), stated that

“Effective from the 1 January 2007 the following procedures will be implemented in the issuance of manual and electronic Notice of Intention to Export (NOI):

  • Manual NOI – the AQIS number will not be applied to the certificate until such time as the consignment has been passed for export.”

The AQIS number will still be issued at the time of lodging an NOI as per current practice however administrative procedures will be enacted if individual exporters proceed to export consignments without a valid export permit being in force for prescribed goods, as per the Export Control (Plants and Plant Products) Orders 2005.
