55-2018 - Introduction of a new Inspection direction as part of Automatic Entry Processing reform effecting Class 1 and 2 Approved Arrangement sites

Who does this notice affect?

Biosecurity industry participants operating a class 1 or class 2 approved arrangement (AA) site.

What has changed?

As part of the Automatic Entry Processing (AEP) reform project the department is implementing some enhancements to the Agriculture Import Management System (AIMS).

From 23 June 2018, class 1 and 2 AA sites will see a new biosecurity direction titled Inspection - Cargo Inspection.  This ​direction will be assigned through AEP only to consignments directed for inspection by a broker under AA class 19.1 and 19.2.  The direction is equivalent to the current biosecurity directions Inspect (unpack), LCL inspection, Airfreight inspection and Verify packing direction.

The Inspection - Cargo Inspection direction is to be carried out at the AA site detailed on the direction. Consignments that are assigned this direction must be handled in accordance with the class requirement for the AA site.
