19-2019 - Addition of Germany to list of approved Salmonid processing countries

Who does this notice affect?

This notice is of interest to importers of salmonid products and associated industry participants and retailers.

What has changed?

This notice is to inform industry that the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources has approved Germany as a processing country for salmon and salmonid products.

Please note: This new approval is only for product processed in Germany. Germany is not currently approved as a source country for salmon products.

Salmon processed in Germany prior to export to Australia must be accompanied by a Government Health Certificate from the Competent Authority, Bundesministerium für Ernährung und Landwirtschaft (BMEL), and must be sourced from one of the department’s approved source countries as listed below:

  • Denmark
  • Canada
  • Republic of Ireland
  • New Zealand
  • Norway
  • United Kingdom
  • United States of America
