Who does this notice affect?

Clients in the import and shipping industries—including freight forwarders, importers and customs brokers—associated with importing goods that require BMSB treatment during the BMSB risk season (goods manufactured in or shipped from target risk countries, that have been shipped between 1 September and 30 April (inclusive))

All clients attempting to use the department’s Biosecurity Import Conditions (BICON) system.

Detail:

The Biosecurity Import Conditions (BICON) system is currently experiencing an unplanned service disruption.

Some BICON users are receiving an increased incidence of error messages when attempting to use BICON.

Action

Users experiencing such issues are advised to contact the department’s Imports team via email at Imports@aff.gov.au.

Delegates from the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) and New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries (NZ MPI) met face-to-face in Sydney, Australia on Tuesday 6 December 2022.

ANZBC Meeting 18 was co-chaired by the Deputy Secretary, Biosecurity and Compliance, DAFF and the Deputy Director General Biosecurity, NZ MPI, Stuart Anderson.

We have released the Import risk review for dehydrated and pre-sterilised microbiological media: final report. All comments on the draft report for this risk review have been considered in the finalisation process. The final report has now been published on the department’s website.
