National Management Group Communiqué: African black sugar ant (Lepisiota incisa) in Western Australia - 9 November 2023

The National Biosecurity Management Group (NBMG) for Lepisiota incisa – comprising all governments – has endorsed a revised response plan for eradicating Lepisiota incisa from Western Australia.

The response continues to be led by Western Australia’s Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) and will include a range of activities to delimit, contain and eradicate remaining infestations in the Perth metropolitan area, and in Narrogin, WA.

Who does this notice affect?

Biosecurity industry participants and accredited persons operating under the department’s class 19.1 non-commodity for containerised cargo clearance (NCCC) & class 19.2 automatic entry processing for commodities (AEPCOMM) approved arrangements; continued biosecurity competency (CBC) providers and registered training organisations (RTOs).

What has changed?

From 27 November 2023, the scope of AEPCOMM has been expanded to include the following commodities:
