Who does this notice affect?

This notice affects all clients who receive directions issued by the department from the Agriculture Import Management System (AIMS).  

What has changed?

The department will be delivering a change on Saturday 02 October 2021 to the Agriculture Import Management System (AIMS) which will remove the Biosecurity Officer name from issued directions.

212-2021: BICON Case update - Prefabricated office, accommodation units and caravans

Who does this notice affect?

Importers and customs brokers who import prefabricated office, accommodation units and caravans.

What has changed?

The department is revising the inspection requirements for new, rural bound consignments of prefabricated office, accommodation units and caravans.

Consignments of new, rural bound prefabricated office, accommodation units and caravans will now be subject to a rural tailgate inspection, in lieu of a full unpack inspection.

Improving market transparency in perishable agricultural goods industries

In late 2020, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) conducted an inquiry into bargaining power imbalances in supply chains for perishable agricultural goods (PAG) in Australia. The subsequent Perishable Agricultural Goods Inquiry Report recommended that the government and industries explore measures to foster price transparency to increase competition in those industries.

2021-46: Plant Exports – Updates to the department’s website

Purpose

This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise industry that the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment is updating its website.

Summary of changes and key points

On 18 October 2021, we will be merging our 3 departmental websites:

  • awe.gov.au
  • agriculture.gov.au
  • environment.gov.au

All existing content will be moved to awe.gov.au.
