Information

The department is currently experiencing intermittent telephony and network connectivity issues. As a result, clients may experience unexpected call dropouts or be unable to contact the department.

Our third-party telephony provider is currently investigating the issue as a priority. The department apologises for any inconvenience caused.

Rising interceptions

In 2020, Australia saw a marked increase in khapra beetle (Trogoderma granarium) interceptions. These tiny but hardy insects – or their remains – were found in goods they had previously not been found with, and in shipments from countries not known to have khapra beetle.

Issue

An alert has been issued by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) about heightened African swine fever (ASF) risk in our region.

The emergence and subsequent spread of ASF in the region continues to pose a significant threat and requires ongoing vigilance. This includes over the Lunar (Chinese) New Year.
