Who does this notice affect?

All clients required to use the department’s Biosecurity Import Conditions (BICON) system during this planned maintenance period.

Information

Due to scheduled infrastructure maintenance, BICON users may experience several intermittent outages from 16:00 to 23:59 on Sunday 24 January 2021 (AEDT).

Action

Users are advised to frequently save any in-progress permit applications during this maintenance period.

Information

The unplanned network issues experienced by the department have now been resolved. Staff are now processing biosecurity assessments as normal, however there may be a slight delay whilst the backlog is being cleared.

No action required. The department apologises for any inconvenience caused.

The department is currently experiencing unplanned network issues. As a result, clients may experience delays in receiving biosecurity assessment outcomes.

The department is investigating the issue as a priority and apologises for any inconvenience caused.

This notice is of particular interest to importers of retorted, shelf stable, commercially sterile products containing animal-based ingredients.

What has changed?

The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (department) is making changes to the standard import permit for retorted, shelf stable, commercially sterile food products containing animal ingredients for human consumption.
