This document provides the Australian Government’s general requirements for overseas facilities that manufacture, store, handle, transport, or export processed plant-based stockfeed and stockfeed ingredients to Australia.  

These general requirements are in addition to any specific importation requirements set by the department.

149-2020 - Cancellation of departmental audits associated with recognised offshore fertiliser supply chains

Who does this notice affect?

This notice is of interest to offshore entities who have Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment recognised fertiliser supply chains.

Background

The COVID-19 pandemic and associated travel restrictions has impacted the ability of the department to conduct offshore audits associated with the Bulk Cargo and Containerised Fertiliser Assessment and Management Policies.

148-2020 – Notice of the department’s assessment of an application to import live attenuated Salmonella vaccines

Who does this notice affect?

Stakeholders that have an interest in the possible importation of live attenuated Salmonellae vaccines for use in chickens and turkeys.

What is happening?

The department has received a permit application from Elanco Australasia Pty Ltd to import the following live, attenuated veterinary vaccines:

- AviPro Salmonella Duo
- AviPro Salmonella Vac E
- AviPro Salmonella Vac T

147-2020 - Streamlined brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB) fumigation arrangements available

Who does this notice affect?

This notice affects biosecurity industry participants (BIPs) who fumigate imported consignments due to BMSB concerns. These are BIPs that hold an approved arrangement (AA) with the department that includes one or both of the following AA classes:

  • 12.1 – methyl bromide fumigation
  • 12.2 – sulfuryl fluoride fumigation

What has changed?

The department is introducing a streamlined option for BIPs who provide fumigation services.

146-2020 - Enhanced brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB) heat treatment arrangements

Who does this notice affect?

This notice affects biosecurity industry participants (BIPs) who heat treat imported consignments for BMSB concerns. These are BIPs that hold a class 12.3 approved arrangement (AA).

What has changed?

The department is introducing additional conditions to better manage the risk of BMSB escaping from shipping containers when BIPs are interacting with the consignment in the shipping container prior to the commencement of the heat treatment.

2020-58 - Plant Export Operations - Release of the Draft Export Control (Plants and Plant Products) Rules 2020 for the second round of consultation

Purpose

This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise that the Draft Export Control (Plants and Plant Products) Rules 2020 has been released for the second round of public consultation until COB 5 November 2020.

145-2020 - Cat and Dog imports to Australia – impact of COVID-19 and Christmas shutdown

Who does this notice affect?

This notice is for all airlines, freight forwarders, pet transport companies and importers of cats and dogs to Australia.

What has changed?

Staged restrictions in Victoria are continuing as a result of COVID-19. Despite restrictions, animals have continued to arrive into Melbourne International Airport, been collected by the department and taken to the Post Entry Quarantine (PEQ) facility in Mickleham, without issue.

Who does this notice affect?

All importers of plants, cats and/or dogs who will be required to use the Post Entry Biosecurity System during this planned outage.

Information

Due to system maintenance, the Post Entry Biosecurity System will be unavailable from 23:00 Friday 11 September to 01:00 Saturday 12 September 2020 (AEST).

Action

Clients are advised to await the completion of this maintenance period before attempting to access this service.
