Who does this notice affect?
All clients required to use the department’s Biosecurity Import Conditions (BICON) system during this planned maintenance period.
Information
The department is conducting I.T. infrastructure maintenance from 21:00 Saturday 31 October to 22:00 Sunday 01 November 2020 (AEDT).
BICON will still be available during this time, however users will not be able to complete the following operations:

The issue causing a service disruption to BICON has now been resolved.

180-2020 - Notice of Mandatory offshore methyl bromide fumigation for imported fresh leaves and root vegetables from Fiji

Who does this notice affect?
This notice is of interest to importers (and their customs brokers) of fresh leaves for human consumption and fresh root vegetables from Fiji.
What has changed?
Due to unacceptably high pest interceptions, the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (the department) will require mandatory pre- shipment methyl bromide fumigation, from 18 January 2021, for the following fresh produce from Fiji:
179-2020 - The department is adding dried Ziziphus dates (permitted species) onto the Compliance Based Intervention Scheme (CBIS) and implementing an AQIS Commodity code on fresh dates from the United States of America and dried dates from all countries

The Harmonised Agvet Chemical Control of Use Task group (HACCUT)
In 2010, in response to a request from the Council of Australian Governments, the Agriculture Ministers’ Forum (AGMIN) and the Agriculture Senior Officials’ Committee (AGSOC) agreed to develop a single national framework to harmonise the regulation of agricultural and veterinary (agvet) chemicals. A working group, the Agvet Chemical Relations Committee (ACRC), was established to progress these reforms, with membership from all states and territories, and the Australian and New Zealand governments.

This Exporter Supply Chain Assurance System (ESCAS) Regulatory Performance Report covers the period 1 June to 30 September 2020. The review concerns the performance of ESCAS supply chains in Kuwait and Vietnam.
