2020-19 - Business Systems Program – Update for the mandatory use of the Plant Exports Management System (PEMS)

Purpose

This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise Authorised Officers about the mandatory use of PEMS and to update industry that work continues to integrate existing third-party plant exports software with PEMS, and the implications this has on the mandatory use of PEMS.

Purpose

To notify exporters of the change in Sri Lanka’s import regulations affecting the export of fish and fish products.

You can help prevent the introduction of exotic pests and diseases into Australia by making sure you do not plant food products that are intended for eating. When buying fresh, dried or preserved foods (including spices and seeds) from your local supermarket, general store or fruit and vegetable shop, make sure they are put on your plate for eating and not planted in your garden.

This Exporter Supply Chain Assurance System (ESCAS) Regulatory Performance Report covers the period 1 December 2019 to 31 March 2020.

During this period, the department received 6 reports of non-compliance with ESCAS requirements. These reports involved supply chains in Israel, Kuwait and Vietnam.
