Requirements apply to the treatment of prawns, through cooking, to manage biosecurity risk. These measures are in place to manage the risk of White Spot Disease in prawn consignments that were imported prior to the suspension on 9 January 2017.

Requirements apply to the disposal of prawns to manage biosecurity risk.
The department has implemented new import conditions for breaded, battered and crumbed (BBC) prawns.
Increased biosecurity measures are in place for importing uncooked prawns and prawn products for human consumption in order to facilitate the safe trade of prawns while meeting Australia’s appropriate level of protection (ALOP).
The department requires all solid timber packaging and dunnage to meet the bark requirements as defined in the International Standard for Phytosanitary Measures No. 15 (ISPM15) – Regulation of Wood Packaging Material in International Trade.
