The purpose of the Announcement Information Paper is to provide background information about the review of biosecurity import requirements for fresh dragon fruit from Vietnam. Its intended audience is stakeholders with an interest in the risk analysis.
The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (the department) has completed the review of biosecurity import requirements for fresh dragon fruit from Vietnam.
Public consultation on the draft report for the review of devitalisation on cut flower imports has now closed.
Fresh cut flowers and foliage have been imported into Australia on a commercial basis for over 60 years. With this trade comes the potential to introduce unwanted pests and diseases into Australia.

We have completed a review of import conditions for cucurbitaceous vegetable seeds for sowing.

When we conduct a review of import conditions, we:
The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (the department) has completed a pest risk analysis for Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV) associated with host cucurbit seeds.
There were three principal steps in the process:
Import conditions for citrus from the Arab Republic of Egypt are available on the Biosecurity Import Conditions system (BICON), making the import of these goods possible.
Import conditions for cherry fruit from New Zealand are available on the Biosecurity Import Conditions system (BICON), making the import of these goods possible.
Import conditions for fresh chilli (Capsicum annum) fruit from Fiji have been published on our Biosecurity Import Conditions system (BICON). Import permits can now be issued.
The decision to commence imports will be a commercial decision between an exporter in Fiji and an importer in Australia. The importer must meet the import conditions as set out in BICON.
