The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry administers the Biosecurity Act 2015, Export Control Act 2020, Imported Food Control Act 1992 and various other Acts in order to protect Australia's animal, plant and human health status and to maintain market access for Australian food and other agricultural exports.

If you import or export goods to or from Australia or are associated with the movements of vessels or aircraft to Australia, you should be aware of your responsibilities under Australian law.

Instructional Material Updates

Instructional material for export operations is transitioning into new templates. The updates are being made to meet department style requirements, facilitate improved document management and make it quicker and easier for users to find the instructions they need.

As documents are transitioned into the new templates, you may find some documents titled according to the new naming convention and others that are still titled according to the previous naming convention.

Northern Australia Biosecurity Framework Reference Group

The Northern Australia Biosecurity Framework Reference provides strategic advice on, and support for, a collaborative approach to the delivery of biosecurity in northern Australia. It builds on and supersedes the Northern Australia Quarantine Strategy (NAQS) Steering Committee.

The Reference Group identifies common biosecurity delivery priorities across governments and agricultural industries to help ensure that the Australian Government biosecurity surveillance effort for northern Australia is appropriately targeted to risk, and effectively aligned with other stakeholder effort.

Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Cargo Consultative Committee

Overview

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Cargo Consultative Committee (DCCC) is a committee for the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and international trade and logistics service provider industries to consider tactical and strategic biosecurity related international trade/logistics issues.

Australia-New Zealand Biosecurity Cooperation

The Australia New Zealand Biosecurity Cooperation (ANZBC) is the working name for the Consultative Group on Biosecurity Cooperation (CGBC). The group was established by Australian and New Zealand ministers in 1999 under the terms of the Australia New Zealand Closer Economic Relations Trade Agreement.

The ANZBC provides the impetus and direction for harmonising animal and plant health measures affecting trade between the two countries.
