The Australian Export Meat Inspection System (AEMIS) is an integrated set of controls specified and verified by government that provides confidence in the safety, suitability and integrity of Australian meat and meat products. Underpinning AEMIS are objective hygiene and performance standards which are continually monitored and reported.

What is the ‘Independent Employer of AAOs Accreditation Scheme’?

It is a scheme developed by the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment to provide for the employment of Australian Government Authorised Officers (AAOs) by independent employment providers. Under the Scheme, agencies will supply AAOs to Australian export slaughter establishments to meet EU standards.

This document, the “Guidelines on the Use and Control of Electronic Records for Statutory Compliance” is a detailed and comprehensive guideline identifying issues that must be addressed in providing compliance evidence in the form of records for statutory authorities and is to be read in conjunction with AQIS Meat Notice 2007/01.​
