2024-12: EXDOC and NEXDOC planned outages 20-21 July 2024

Purpose

The Department of Home Affairs has notified the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (the department) of an outage to the Integrated Cargo System (ICS) which will impact the Next Export Documentation (NEXDOC) system and the Export Documentation (EXDOC) system.

Summary of changes and key points

To notify NEXDOC system and EXDOC system users that both systems will be impacted due to a planned ICS update.

Proposed Biosecurity Protection Levy

The proposed Biosecurity Protection Levy and Charge (Biosecurity Protection Levy) was intended to be a new levy and charge payable by primary producers. It was one component of the larger 2023-24 Budget measure ‘Strengthened and Sustainably Funded Biosecurity System’, which is delivering increased, broad based, long-term sustainable funding for Australia’s biosecurity system.

The bills to introduce the Biosecurity Protection Levy framework were discharged from the Senate Notice Paper on 12 February 2025.

Meeting Communiqué

Commonwealth, state and territory agriculture ministers met in person in Brisbane on Thursday 18 July 2024 for the second Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting (AMM) of the year.

AMM 02/2024 was chaired by the Australian Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Senator the Hon Murray Watt. Ministers welcomed the new AMM Member for Tasmania, the Hon Jane Howlett MP and thanked the Hon Jo Palmer MLC for her contribution during her time as Tasmanian Minister for Primary Industries and Water.
