From today, all staff working in frontline regulatory roles will wear a new uniform that not only gives our workforce a smart and modern look but clearly identifies us as a national regulatory agency.
Deputy Secretary of the Biosecurity Operations and Compliance Group, Justine Saunders, said the new uniform reflects the department’s commitment to a professional, consistent and visible frontline presence.
“This striking new uniform highlights our commitment to our important regulatory role, and enhances our reputation among stakeholders, regulated entities, and the public,” she said.
Whether our officers are inspecting cargo, working at mail centres or greeting travellers at an airport, this uniform is versatile and supports comfort and function across our diverse work settings.
Key visual changes include a distinctive side-sleeve badge and a strong new colour palette.
Staff were involved in the development of the uniform to ensure it met the practical needs of our work and are excited to be wearing it from today. The uniform will help ensure our workforce is recognisable and foster confidence and clarity when dealing with the public.
Melbourne Travellers Operation Manager Nic Tresize said the new uniform was a welcome update.
“The updated uniform presents a professional and polished appearance, reinforcing our department’s identity in the airport environment and beyond,” Nic said.
As biosecurity risks become more complex, and cargo and traveller volumes continue to grow, a consistent and recognisable uniform is essential to reinforcing the critical role we play in protecting Australia’s biosecurity.
