The Biosecurity Funding and Expenditure Report 2024-25 has been released. This marks the second year of dedicated financial reporting for biosecurity. The report includes:
- New analysis of biosecurity expenditure by control stage (pre-border, at-border, and post-border) and biosecurity risk pathway
- Progress reporting against the strategic priorities of the DAFF Biosecurity 2030 Roadmap
- Improved structure to enhance readability and accessibility
Importantly, this report provides the first progress update on the Roadmap since its release in October 2024, showcasing how key departmental programs and activities are delivering against the Roadmap’s nine strategic actions.
Going forward, the report will be published annually on the department’s website, following the end of each financial year, ensuring continued transparency and accountability of biosecurity funding and expenditure.
This report was developed in consultation with the Sustainable Biosecurity Funding Advisory Panel, which reviewed a draft at its August 2025 meeting.
