AQUAVETPLAN - Disease Strategy Manual - White spot disease of prawns

Publication details

Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry - 2025

This disease strategy manual is an integral part of the Australian Aquatic Veterinary Emergency Plan (AQUAVETPLAN).

The manual sets out the disease control principles for use in response to a suspected or confirmed incursion of white spot disease in Australia.

White spot disease is a serious disease of prawns, and continues to have serious effects in prawn culture in south- and south-east Asia, the Americas, Africa and the Middle East. Australia is one of the few countries with a prawn farming industry which is free of the disease.
