2021-09: Application for additional fish cut-codes and product types

Date of issue:30 July 2021

Date of effect: Immediate

Attention:

  • Export Registered Establishments approved to prepare fish and fish products for export as food.

Purpose

To notify establishments that an application for adding of fish cut-codes and product types to establishments already approved to prepare similar product types by approved processes is now available on the departments website at fish product codes for EXDOC users.

Summary of key points

  • Registered establishments must complete the Application for addition of fish cut-codes and product types to request codes to be added to their operations.
  • Use this form only if the establishment already has similar fish cut-codes or product types linked to the establishment. For example:
    • The establishment is approved to prepare whole raw Banana prawn and wants to prepare whole raw Tiger Prawn under the same approved process, wants to fillet a new species of fin-fish or pack a different species of live crab
    • The establishment is approved to prepare abalone products using the group product type ABB – Abalone (Haliotis spp.) and requires the more specific product type ABB – Abalone Blacklip (Haliotis rubra rubra)
  • Do not use this form to request cut-codes and/or product types that are intended to be prepared by operations that the establishment does not have approval for. For example:
    • An establishment that is approved to prepare raw fish only cannot use the form to apply for cooked fish. Cooking fish would be a variation to the establishments currently approved operations as detailed in the approved arrangement
    • Establishments that want to vary their approved arrangement must apply to the department by submitting the request on an EX26b form

What do I need to do?

  • Complete the Application for addition of Fish cut-codes and product types
  • Ensure that the application is fully completed to avoid any processing delays.
  • Submit the completed application to Dairy Eggs Fish for assessment and approval.
  • Note that a processing service charge ($53 per 15 minutes) will be applied as per our Charging guideline 2021
  • Allow time for the processing and approval of the application.
  • Note that Establishments must not process or pack new products until a response has been received from the department by e-mail that confirms:
    • the correct product description has been determined (i.e. correct fish name/scientific name to be applied as a trade description and to export documentation)
    • the requested codes have been added to the establishment
