Seafood industry including all establishments registered with the department for the preparation (including storage, handling, and loading) of fish for export as food.
Purpose
To introduce the Seafood Export Facilitator (SEF) who will provide support to existing export registered establishments as well as potential exporters that are seeking to become export registered.

- The department is offering the services of a facilitator to the seafood industry as part of the Seafood Export Reform Program.
- The SEF will be a central point of contact for stakeholders to discuss export issues and will be available via email, phone, video call, or face-to-face meetings where possible.

- The SEF will be available to:
- work one-on-one with clients who are new to the export process
- provide assistance to potential exporters that are seeking to become export registered
- assist existing registered establishments and exporters who seek to enter new markets in understanding importing country requirements and how best to navigate the complex process of country listings
- help registered establishments to add new products and make variations to their approved arrangements as well as advise on export processes and requirements to provide a more streamlined experience.

What are the Seafood Export Facilitator services?
The SEF can provide guidance on:
- legislative requirements
- the establishment registration approval process, including consideration periods
- the process for changing operations or adding new product codes to your establishment
- how to prepare for an audit of your establishment prior to export approval.
How will the seafood industry benefit?
Through providing the SEF service, the department aims to assist the seafood industry by:
- improving efficiency in the export registration process
- reducing cost to industry by avoiding unnecessary charges and delays when establishments are looking to become export registered
- increasing compliance with export legislation and importing country requirements.
What is next?
The Seafood Export Reform Program will conduct various activities which will collect data and identify improvements in the seafood export process, this will include developing new resources and learning packages for current and potential exporters.
