If you are a licenced livestock exporter you must use Tracking Animal Certification for Export (TRACE) to:
- draft, submit and vary your Notice of Intention (NOI) application
- view your export licence.
We use TRACE to manage and process NOI applications. We also use TRACE to manage regulatory information about livestock export licences, registered establishments and accredited veterinarians.
You will need to use Chrome or Microsoft Edge to access TRACE. We no longer support Internet Explorer.
Apply for a TRACE account
Email TRACE@awe.gov.au to apply for your TRACE account.
You can only apply for a TRACE account if you are a person in management and control of your company. People in management and control positions are listed on your company’s export licence.
Submit your NOI application in TRACE
You must submit a new NOI application in TRACE for each livestock consignment.
If you cannot access TRACE to submit your NOI email us at TRACE@awe.gov.au.
Manage your TRACE account
Email TRACE@awe.gov.au to manage your access, or resolve any technical issues you have with TRACE.
As part of export services reform, we are improving the way TRACE functions.
This includes improvements to existing functions as well as new features to:
- streamline core document management
- identify changes made in NOI variation applications
- centralise and display approved exporter documents

Tracking Animal Certification for Export (TRACE) has been upgraded for livestock exports.
Here are some of the new things you can do in TRACE:
- View core documents requirements
- Separate your core documents
- Delete outdated documents
- View the status of documents.
View core document requirements: The core documents required for your consignment can now be viewed on TRACE. Listed core documents are indicative only for markets with no agreed importing country requirements in place. Let’s have a look…
Click on the expand button to see your core document requirements.
This list will be specific to your chosen species, class and market.
You can now manage your core documents separately from other documents. This also helps the department to find your documents faster, which reduces the time and cost of your assessments.
Here are the 2 separate locations to upload your documents.
Click ‘add new record’ and the above screen will appear.
TIP! For further efficiencies compile documents with the same document tags before you upload it to TRACE.
You can now delete, edit or replace your out-dated or superseded core documents on TRACE. Deleted documents cannot be recovered, but can be reloaded again if needed.
Click the bin icon to delete an out-of-date document.
You will be prompted to provide a reason for deletion.
Click on the pencil icon to edit or update your pre-existing documents.
These features enable you to present your final core documents for inspection, avoiding possible delays.
You can now see the status of your core documents on TRACE;
You can re-upload a document with the same document label if it gets rejected.

Document statuses are only available in the core document section of TRACE. So be careful where you upload your core documents.
