Purpose
This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to provide clarification to Authorised Officers (AOs) regarding the inspection sampling requirements for consignments of nectarines, peaches, apricots and plums for exports to the People’s Republic of China.
Summary of changes and key points
- For consignments of nectarines, peaches, plums and apricots, the People’s Republic of China requires that a 600 unit sample per species is drawn and visually inspected.
- For peaches, plums and apricots, a 60 unit fruit cut from the 600 unit sample is also required to verify the absence of Codling Moth.
- The 60 unit fruit cut is not required for nectarines.
- While nectarines and peaches are the same species, for consignments consisting of both, 600 units of nectarines and 600 units of peaches must be drawn and visually inspected, with a 60 unit fruit cut for peaches to verify the absence of Codling Moth.
Background
The summerfruit exports to the People’s Republic of China work plan and the associated Manual of Importing Country Requirements (MICoR) cases for nectarines and peaches have been updated to reflect this clarification.
AO responsibilities
AOs must be aware of, and follow, the conditions detailed in the current work plan. The work plan is to be referred to in conjunction with the protocols and the relevant instructional material on the Plant Export Operations Manual (PEOM).
