7 July 2025
Who does this notice affect?
This notice affects all importers who intend to import frozen dog semen into Australia from the Netherlands and Spain, and biosecurity officers who assess documentation to support the importation of these goods.
What has changed?
The department has finalised negotiations with the Netherlands and Spain on the development of country-specific veterinary health certificate templates for the certification of frozen canine semen exported from the Netherlands or Spain to Australia.
The department will publish these templates on the department’s website and a link to these templates will also be available through the ‘frozen dog semen’ BICON case.
These templates will be available from 29 July 2025.
Further information
All other approved countries may continue to use the previously published veterinary health certificate template on the department’s website, in line with current import condition requirements for frozen canine semen.
