Continued biosecurity competency (CBC)

Continued biosecurity competency (CBC) provides approved arrangement class 19 accredited persons with ongoing professional development, to support biosecurity capability, compliance and assurance.

CBC activity topics may include:

• changes to electronic systems and processes
• updates to approved arrangement class 19 requirements, conditions and supporting policies
• common compliance issues 
• emerging biosecurity risk areas.

Each CBC activity includes both a learning and assessment component. Accredited persons must complete CBC activities to maintain their accreditation under approved arrangement class 19.

CBC period and delivery schedule

The CBC period runs from 1 April to 31 March, to align with the Australian Border Force (ABF) Continuing Professional Development (CPD) period.

We aim to deliver 2 CBC activities each period. CBC activities and delivery timing is subject to operational priorities and may vary.

The table below lists scheduled CBC activities. Further activities may be added during the CBC period.

CBC activities must be completed by the due date. Failure to comply will result in suspension or cancellation of approved arrangement class 19 accreditation. Additionally, it may result in administrative actions against the approved arrangement holder.

Accessing and completing CBC activities

CBC activities and approved arrangement class 19 resources are available to all accredited persons through Learnhub. Each accredited person is issued with a unique Learnhub account which they must maintain access to.

A certificate will be issued once the CBC activity is completed. Accredited persons are responsible for retaining evidence of CBC completion.

CBC activities may be eligible for CPD points, at the discretion of ABF. We do not award CPD points.
