The Indigenous Apprenticeships Program (IAP) is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The program helps people learn new skills and grow a career that supports our communities.

We support greater employment of Indigenous people from all backgrounds, including school leavers, graduates and people looking for a career change.

Applications for the 2026 intake are now closed.

What the program offers

The IAP runs for 12 months. You will:

Who does this notice affect?

Clients in the import and shipping industries—including freight forwarders, importers and customs brokers—associated with importing goods that require BMSB treatment during the BMSB risk season (goods manufactured in or shipped from target risk countries, that have been shipped between 1 September and 30 April (inclusive)).

09-2024: Voluntary fumigation of fresh cut flowers and foliage in 2024

Who does this notice affect?

Industry stakeholders including importers, approved arrangements, freight forwarders and brokers that deal with imported cut flowers and foliage.

What has changed?

Consignments of fresh cut flowers and foliage found to be infested with live insect pests have the option to be directed for onshore fumigation and release prior to pest identification by an entomologist, for the following periods in 2024:
