The purpose of this guideline is to outline the process of ante-mortem inspection and disposition of animals at export-registered meat establishments.

This guideline provides an overview of the ante-mortem inspection and disposition process and the discretionary use of CCTV footage as a verification tool for emergency slaughter procedures in the lead-up race. This guideline covers the ante-mortem inspection and disposition of:

The Biosecurity Portal is currently experiencing an unplanned service disruption. As a result, some clients may be unable to lodge new inspection booking requests or make changes to existing requests in supported web browsers (Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge).

81-2023: Reporting enhancements to class 14.4 Approved Arrangement - Industry performed rural tailgate inspection

Who does this notice affect?

Stakeholders associated with the biosecurity clearance of sea freight containers imported into Australia that are destined for unpack in a rural location. This includes customs brokers, importers and biosecurity industry participants (BIPs) that operate an approved arrangement site and hold approval for class 14.4 rural tailgate inspection.

Who does this notice affect?

This notice is for all airlines, freight forwarders, pet transport companies, and exporters and importers of cats and dogs.

Export information

The department regulates the export of live animals, including cats, dogs and assistance dogs. There are specific regulatory requirements that must be followed to comply with export legislation, any relevant transport standards and importing country requirements.

Who does this notice affect?

All importers and customs brokers who will be required to lodge imported cargo documentation to the department for biosecurity assessment during this planned maintenance period.

All clients who will be required to make an online payment during this planned maintenance period.

All importers of plants, cats and/or dogs who will be required to use the Post Entry Biosecurity System during this planned maintenance period.

2023-09: NEXDOC export certificate planned outage – 5 April 2023 – honey and apiculture products
