Who does this notice affect?

Clients in the import and shipping industries—including freight forwarders, importers and customs brokers—associated with importing goods that require BMSB treatment during the BMSB risk season (goods manufactured in or shipped from target risk countries, that have been shipped between 1 September 2022 and 30 April 2023 (inclusive)).

To notify Next Export Documentation (NEXDOC) system users of a planned export certificate outage.

Key points

UK wheat and meslin quota

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry manages 10 quotas under the Australia-United Kingdom Free Trade Agreement (A-UK FTA), including wheat and meslin.

Australian exporters can export up to 80,000 tonnes of wheat and meslin at a 0% tariff rate. Access to the quotas is on a quarterly first-come, first-served (FCFS) basis until the available quota amount has been exhausted.

UK sugar quota

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry manages 10 quotas under the Australia-United Kingdom Free Trade Agreement (A-UK FTA), including sugar.

Australian exporters can export sugar at a 0% tariff rate under the following quota volumes.

UK sheepmeat quota

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry manages 10 tariff rate quotas (TRQs) under the Australia-United Kingdom Free Trade Agreement (A-UK FTA), including sheepmeat.

Australian exporters can export sheepmeat at a 0% tariff rate under the following quota volumes.

UK rice quota

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry manages 10 quotas under the Australia-United Kingdom Free Trade Agreement (A-UK FTA), including rice.

Australian exporters can export up to 1,000 tonnes/year of Long Grain Rice and 11,500 tonnes/year of Broken Rice at a 0% tariff rate. Access to the quota is on a first-come, first-served (FCFS) basis until the available quota amount has been exhausted.

UK dairy quota

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry manages 10 quotas under the Australia-United Kingdom Free Trade Agreement (A-UK FTA), including dairy products.

Australian Exporters can export eligible dairy products at a 0% tariff rate under the following quota volumes. Access to the quotas is on a first-come, first-served (FCFS) basis until the available quota amount has exhausted.

UK beef meat quota

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry manages 10 tariff rate quotas (TRQs) under the Australia-United Kingdom Free Trade Agreement (A-UK FTA), including beef meat.

Australian exporters can export beef meat at a 0% tariff rate under the following quota volumes.
