Purpose

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (the department) is notifying the Australian organic export industry of a change in the United Kingdom Department of Environmental, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) Guidance on Organic food labelling and advertising rules.

Email method for booking import inspections will be closing for most clients on 1 February 2023

From 1 February 2023 the Biosecurity Portal will be the only way for most clients to book cargo import inspections with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. The portal is a streamlined process for booking import inspections that gives clients full control of requests including changes and cancellations. This will result in the current email booking method no longer being supported from midnight on 31 January 2023 for most requests for inspection bookings.

Import-related biosecurity treatment stakeholders, including all importers, brokerages, onshore approved arrangement holders, overseas government and treatment industry entities, relevant domestic state and territory government agencies, and other shipping, freight, and logistics peak industry bodies.
