Clients in the import and shipping industries—including freight forwarders, importers and customs brokers—associated with importing goods that require BMSB treatment during the BMSB risk season (goods manufactured in or shipped from target risk countries, that have been shipped between 1 September 2022 and 30 April 2023 (inclusive)).

To advise seafood exporters of the requirements of the European Union (EU) and United Kingdom (UK) with respect to ethoxyquin residues in aquaculture fish and fish products.

The Agricultural Workforce Working Group (the Working Group) met for the second time on 15 November 2022. This tripartite group, comprising representatives of agriculture and processing employers and unions, along with government, was created as an outcome of the Government’s Jobs and Skills Summit in September.

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (the department) is seeking comments and practical ideas on options for long-term, sustainable funding to strengthen Australia’s biosecurity system.

Customs brokers and importers of consignments over $1000 imported as sea cargo.

What has changed?

Australia’s biosecurity system is becoming more complex and like industry and the rest of the world, the department is continuing to respond to changing global and domestic travel, trade and climate patterns.

The demand for our regulatory activities has also increased, together with industry expectation of faster clearances and efficiencies at the border.

Who does this notice affect?

Approved arrangements operators, customs brokers, importers, manned depots, and freight forwarders who will be required to book and manage requests for import inspections using the Biosecurity Portal during this planned outage.

Information

Update: An outage to the Biosecurity Portal will no longer occur on Tuesday 15 November 2022.

The outage has been rescheduled and now will occur from 22:00 Thursday 17 November to 02:00 Friday 18 November 2022 (AEDT).

Who does this notice affect?

All importers and customs brokers who will be required to lodge imported cargo documentation to the department for biosecurity assessment during this planned maintenance period.

All shipping agents or operators of maritime conveyances who will be required to report pre-arrival information during this planned maintenance period.

You must be approved to produce your products domestically by your state regulatory authority before you can apply for export registration. They must approve you even if you’re only planning to produce products for export. Exemptions to this may be possible, contact your local State Food Authority.

CAPEC clients (DHL, FedEx and UPS) and clients who utilise the department’s SAC-Paperless and Import Management System/s.

Information

Due to urgent infrastructure maintenance, processing of incoming Self-Assessed Clearance (SAC) entries will be delayed from 10:00 to 21:00 Saturday 12 November 2022 (AEDT).
