Northern Hemisphere summer review

We’ve reviewed live sheep exports to, or through, the Middle East during the Northern Hemisphere summer. The review assessed the effectiveness of regulation for exports during the Northern Hemisphere summer (1 May to 31 October).

We introduced temporary restrictions during 1 May to 31 October 2019. This was pending the Regulation Impact Statement (RIS) process. The RIS process reviewed policy options for the live sheep export trade.

Report on NSW Rice Vesting Arrangements

ABARES was commissioned by the NSW Department of Primary Industries to deliver an independent report on NSW rice vesting arrangements to the NSW Minister for Agriculture by 30 May 2023.

The report considered the issues raised in the NSW 2021 Rice Vesting Review (the 2021 Review) and made recommendations to the NSW Government on future regulatory and governance arrangements for the NSW rice industry.

A series of public stakeholder engagement sessions were held in 2023, with written submissions closing on 2 March 2023.

All importers of plants, cats and/or dogs who will be required to use the Post Entry Biosecurity System during this planned outage.

Information

To support system maintenance, the Post Entry Biosecurity System (PEBS) will be unavailable from 23:00 Saturday 17 September to 01:30 Saturday 18 September 2022 (AEST).

Action

Clients are advised to await the completion of this maintenance period before attempting to access this service.
