2022-23: Horticulture – Applications for the export of bananas, capsicum, papaya and sweetcorn to New Zealand

Purpose

This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise industry that applications are required to export bananas, capsicum, papaya and sweetcorn to New Zealand for the 2022-23 season. This applies where farm and packhouse accreditation is required when conducting in-field controls as a management option.

60-2022: Launch of Biosecurity Portal in NSW and ACT – you can now book your import inspections online

Who does this notice affect?

Approved arrangements operators, customs brokers and importers, wishing to book and manage import inspections at sites in NSW and ACT can book them via a new Biosecurity Portal from Tuesday 26 April 2022.

The Biosecurity Portal is being deployed in phases and will be available to other regions in coming months. Industry notices will advise ahead of time when it will be launched for WA and Vic.

The Portal has already been launched in Qld, NT and SA.

2022-22: Client Contact Group – Change to email address for Request for Export Inspection – New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory

This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise all clients requesting plant export inspections in New South Wales (NSW) and the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) of a change to the email address for requests.

All clients required to use the department’s Biosecurity Import Conditions (BICON) system during this planned maintenance period.

Information

Due to scheduled infrastructure maintenance, BICON users may experience several intermittent outages from 16:00 to 23:59 Sunday 24 April 2022 (AEST).

Action

Users are advised to frequently save any in-progress permit applications during this maintenance period.

58-2022: Impacts to Service Standards in Victoria and New South Wales

Who does this notice affect?

All Customs Brokers, Importers, Biosecurity Industry Participants, and food importers who have premises that departmental officers may attend (for inspections, surveillance, or other purposes).

What has changed?

The department continues to experience high volumes of inspection requests and services across Victoria and New South Wales; the department's ability to meet service standards for inspection bookings, in these states, will be impacted over the coming weeks, and possibly beyond.

2022-21: Horticulture Exports Program – Updates to the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC) technical guidelines for the prevention and control of COVID 19 in cold food chains

Purpose

This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise Australian manufacturers and exporters of food products to China of GACC’s release of 2 updated technical guidelines on the management of COVID-19 in cold food chains. GACC recommended this information be conveyed to manufacturers of cold chain foods, including edible agricultural products such as fruit.
