42-2021: Updates to the Goods Determination to take effect 20 March 2021

Who does this notice affect?

This notice applies to importers, customs agents and industry stakeholders.

A new Biosecurity (Conditionally Non-prohibited Goods) Determination 2021 has been made to replace the Biosecurity (Prohibited and Conditionally Non-prohibited Goods) Determination 2016. 

This new determination is similar in effect to the 2016 determination. This is part of the department’s ongoing review of the effectiveness of import conditions including the appropriate application of import permits.

Purpose

To notify registered export manufacturers, exporters and EDI users of updates to the dairy category code review.

36-2021: The changes to the importation of retorted goods containing animal material for human consumption have now been implemented

Who does this notice affect?

This notice is of particular interest to importers of retorted, shelf stable, commercially sterile products containing animal based ingredients.

What has changed?

This notice follows on from Industry Advice Notice 04-2021 published on January 13, 2021 and is to notify industry that the changes outlined in that notice have now been implemented.

From 15 March 2021 the following commodities are no longer able to be imported using the standard permit for retorted goods:

2021-09 - Plant Export Operations – New process for re-export consignments and updated government certificate templates

Purpose

This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise that government certificate templates have been updated and the process to obtain a phytosanitary certificate for re-export and manual government certificate templates will change on 28 March 2021 for the commencement of the Export Control Act 2020 (the Act).
