240-2021: Addition of Estonia to list of approved Salmonid processing countries

Who does this notice affect?

This notice is of interest to importers of salmonid products and associated industry participants and retailers.

What has changed?

This notice is to inform industry that the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment has approved Estonia as a processing country for salmon and salmonid products.

Please note: This new approval is only for product processed in Estonia. Estonia is not currently approved as a source country for salmon products.

Drought Resilient Soils and Landscapes grants

Over $23 million is being invested through the Future Drought Fund in 26 projects focusing on drought resilient land management practices that will help Australia’s farmers prepare for and recover quicker from drought.

The purpose of this program is to demonstrate practices at a broad scale that will make our agricultural land more resilient to future droughts.

The 26 projects were assessed through a competitive grant process that opened in late 2021.

All importers and customs brokers who will be required to lodge imported cargo documentation to the department for biosecurity assessment during this planned maintenance period.

All importers of plants, cats and/or dogs who will be required to use the Post Entry Biosecurity System during this planned maintenance period.

All shipping agents or operators of maritime conveyances who will be required to report pre-arrival information during this planned maintenance period.

All clients who will be required to make an online payment during this planned maintenance period.

2021-65: Plant Exports Management System – Communications workflow and automated BOT verification process launch

Purpose

This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to notify stakeholders of updates to the Plant Exports Management System (PEMS) that will allow external executive users to submit Service Requests for authorisation and issuing of some certificates directly through PEMS.

Who does this notice affect?

Industry participants involved in offshore biosecurity risk management programs associated with inorganic fertiliser and used vehicles.

What has changed?

The department is responsible for applying fees and charges to industry and the public for biosecurity regulatory activities.

From 1 December 2021, the department will begin to recover costs for desk-audits and
virtual-audits associated with the offshore biosecurity risk management programs related to inorganic fertilisers and used vehicles.
