Who does this notice affect?

This notice is of interest to national and state government health officers across Australia

What has changed?

The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (the department) can now provide national health officers, with access to MARS to support the assessment of biosecurity human health risks.

This is part of the Australian Government’s continuing efforts to manage human health and ensure the safe operation of the shipping industry as well as the public health of all Australians.

Who does this notice affect?

This notice is of interest to state and territory ports operators and corporatised port authority entities across Australia

What has changed?

The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (the department) can now provide Australian state, territory and private port authorities with access to MARS to support the assessment of biosecurity human health risks.

All importers and customs brokers who are awaiting outcomes of biosecurity assessments during this planned maintenance period.  

All importers and customs brokers who will be required to lodge imported cargo documentation to the department for biosecurity assessment during this maintenance period.

The department will be performing scheduled system maintenance from 23:30 to 23:59 Tuesday 10 August 2021 (AEST)

Who does this notice affect?

All clients attempting to submit permit applications and access invoices using the Department’s Biosecurity Import Conditions (BICON) system during this planned outage.

All clients who will be required to make an online payment during this planned outage.

All importers and customs brokers who will be required to lodge imported cargo documentation to the department for biosecurity assessment during this planned outage.

166-2021: Crew declarations at first points of entry

Who does this notice affect?

Stakeholders in the import and shipping industries—including operators and persons in charge of aircraft and vessels, masters of vessels and airline pilots, and crew.

What has changed?

There has been a significant increase in the number of infringement notices being issued to industry participants in the airport recently, especially shipping captains and maritime crew who are flying into Australia to meet departing vessels.
