233-2020: Delay of departmental audits associated with recognised offshore fertiliser supply chains

This notice is of interest to offshore entities who have Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment recognised fertiliser supply chains.

Background

The COVID-19 pandemic and associated travel restrictions has continued to impact the ability of the department to conduct on-site offshore audits associated with the Bulk Cargo and Containerised Fertiliser Assessment and Management Policies.

232-2020: Reduction in cleaned and pre-inspected used vehicles to Australia from the Japan Export Vehicle Inspection Centre (JEVIC)

This notice is of interest to Approved Arrangements, terminal operators, importers and brokers for all imports.

Background

The department has been advised by Japan Export Vehicle Inspection Centre (JEVIC) that cleaning and pre-inspection services will be reduced at several facilities located in Japan. This reduction in offshore cleaning and pre-inspection will significantly increase the number of used vehicles requiring assessment, booking and inspection on arrival.

This notice is of interest to all vessel masters and shipping agents who represent international non-commercial vessel arrivals for the purposes of Australian biosecurity clearance.

What has changed?

Non-commercial vessels, including leisure boats, yachts and superyachts, arriving in Australian territory from an overseas location must be aware of their obligations to keep Australia safe from COVID-19.

MAA 2020-22: China: Fish: New government certificate for the export of non-viable seafood to China: Guide to raising a request for permit (RFP)

This MAA provides information on the amended government certificate (health certificate) for the export of non-viable aquatic products to China, to be used from 1 January 2021, and guidance to raise an RFP on the amended supporting template.

Agri-Business Expansion Initiative

The Australian Government is investing $85.9 million to help Australian agribusinesses expand and diversify their export markets through the Agri-Business Expansion Initiative (ABEI).

Announced on 23 December 2020, ABEI is part of a long-term strategy and commitment by the government to help achieve sustainable growth and resilience in our agribusiness exports.

ABEI is jointly delivered by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and Austrade, in close collaboration with industry.
