Construction Softwood Transport Assistance Program

On 20 September 2021, the Australian Government announced a new $15 million Construction Softwood Transport Assistance Program.

Who does this notice affect?

Stakeholders in the import and shipping industries—including Master Consolidators, vessel masters, freight forwarders, treatment providers, Biosecurity Industry Participants, importers, customs brokers and principal agents—associated with shipping or importing goods that require increased intervention during the 2020-21 BMSB risk season.

135-2020 - eCert exchange for New Zealand now paperless

Who does this notice affect?

Customs brokers and importers who import goods from New Zealand that require phytosanitary and/or sanitary certification.

What has changed?

Effective 31 August 2020, the department has transitioned the current eCert exchange with New Zealand’s Ministry for Primary Industries (NZ MPI) to a paperless eCert exchange. This means NZ MPI will no longer issue original paper phytosanitary or sanitary certificates.

This change applies to the following lodgement types:

Declare the producer of imported food

You must declare the producer when you lodge a Full Import Declaration (FID).

We inspect and test food imports under our Imported Food Inspection Scheme.

Work out who the producer is

The producer is the name of the manufacturer, processor, packer or establishment where the goods were grown, caught, manufactured or processed.

The producer is generally where the product undergoes final processing or packaging. The producer’s contact name and address will be on the final bulk or retail packaging.

132-2020 - COLS compatibility issues when using Google Chrome

Who does this notice affect?

All importers and customs brokers who are required to lodge imported cargo documentation to the department for biosecurity assessment using recent versions of Google Chrome.

A recent update to Google Chrome is preventing some Cargo Online Lodgement System (COLS) users from submitting lodgements using this browser.
