Quarantine Regulators Meeting

The Quarantine Regulators Meeting (QRM), established in 2008, is an annual forum that connects government agencies responsible for or involved in biosecurity and border management.

The QRM provides an opportunity for biosecurity agencies worldwide to discuss innovative topics, emerging issues, and strategies to support biosecurity risk management.

Who does this notice affect?

Stakeholders in the import and shipping industries—including Master Consolidators, vessel masters, freight forwarders, treatment providers, Biosecurity Industry Participants, importers, customs brokers and principle agents— associated with shipping or importing goods that require increased intervention during the 2019-20 BMSB risk season.

What has changed?

On 31 May, the department will cease it measures for the 2019 -20 BMSB risk season.

Who does this notice affect?

All importers and customs brokers who will be required to lodge imported cargo documentation to the department for biosecurity assessment during this planned maintenance period.

All clients who will be required to make an online payment during this planned maintenance period.

All importers of plants, cats and/or dogs who will be required to use the Post Entry Biosecurity System during this planned maintenance period.

Importers, growers and suppliers of fresh kiwifruit from Italy to the Australian market. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry (MiPAAF).

Information

The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (the Department) has identified ongoing inspection failures on kiwifruit from Italy and requests assistance from importers and MiPAAF to reduce these failures.
