Who does this notice affect?

All importers utilising the Biosecurity Import Conditions (BICON) system to register for an account or submit an import permit application.

All importers and customs brokers who lodge imported cargo documentation to the department for biosecurity assessment.

All importers and custom brokers awaiting directions from the Agriculture Import Management System (AIMS).

Who does this notice affect?

All clients required to use the department’s Biosecurity Import Conditions (BICON) system during this planned maintenance period.

Information

Due to scheduled system maintenance, BICON users may experience several intermittent outages from 23:00 to 23:59 Saturday 30 May 2020 (AEST).

Action

Users are advised to frequently save any in-progress permit applications during this maintenance period.

What is happening?

Following industry consultation and further consideration of the impacts on industry, the Australian Government has made the decision not to proceed with the Onshore Biosecurity Levy. An alternative levy will not be explored or progressed.

The department undertook a co-design process with industry to develop a levy model that was practical for industry and the government.
