This general practice administration statement is issued under the authority of the Director of Biosecurity. Department personnel, including non-ongoing staff and relevant contractors, must comply with this practice administration statement, unless doing so creates unintended consequences or is considered incorrect.

General practice administration statements (GPAS) provide guidance to department staff and clients on the operation, administration and interpretation of the Biosecurity Act 2015 and its provisions.
Practice Statements are nationally approved directions to staff across a range of legislation and standards administered by the Department. They set out the principles we operate by and the powers and obligations of both staff and clients.
