All clients required to use Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry web-based applications during this planned maintenance period.

Information

The department will be conducting network maintenance from 23:00 Thursday 14 November to 04:00 Friday 15 November 2024 (AEDT).

During this time, DAFF applications may experience multiple intermittent outages of up to 3 minutes each in duration. These applications include, but are not limited to:

252-2024: Two new fumigants under consideration

What has changed?

The Department is currently assessing the suitability of two new fumigants for use as department approved treatments. These fumigants are promising alternatives to the widely used fumigant, Methyl Bromide.

Ethanedinitrile is being assessed for the treatment of arthropod pests associated with de-barked timber and logs of Pinus radiata and Pseudotsuga menziesii from New Zealand.

Who does this notice affect?

Approved arrangements operators, customs brokers, importers, manned depots, and freight forwarders who will be required to book and manage requests for import inspections using the Biosecurity Portal during this scheduled maintenance window.

Approved arrangements operators who will be required to view and/or update details of their Approved Arrangement via the Approved Arrangement Management Product (AAMP) during this scheduled maintenance window.

249-2024: Seeking details of third-party software used for inspection and treatment reporting

Who does this notice affect?

This notice applies to all industry participants involved in managing biosecurity import inspections, including approved arrangement operators, customs brokers, importers, and freight forwarders.

Background information

The department is exploring a new capability to directly and digitally accept inspection and treatment outcomes from industry participants through third-party vendor products following a direction issued by the department.

All clients who submit documentation to the department for import assessment via the Cargo Online Lodgement System (COLS) or other departmental approved systems.

All approved arrangements operators, customs brokers, importers, premises with recurring appointments and freight forwarders who book and manage requests for biosecurity and imported food inspections through email or the Biosecurity Portal.
