Following a collaborative stakeholder engagement process, Ernst and Young have developed the shared vision for agricultural innovation. Realising the vision for Australia’s agricultural innovation system will allow us to harness the power of knowledge to make our food and fibre systems more competitive, prosperous and sustainable.

Approved projects - Round 1

​​Round one, Rural R&D for Profit summary of approved projects

On 6 May 2015 the Hon. Barnaby Joyce MP, the Minister for Agriculture, announced funding of $26.7 million from 2014-15 to 2017-18 for twelve projects in round one of the Rural R&D for Profit Program. This funding was matched by more than $33 million in cash and in-kind contributions by research and development corporations and their partners. The application period for the first round of funding opened on 15 October 2014, and closed on 15 December 2014.

Rural Research and Development for Profit

The Rural Research and Development (R&D) for Profit program boosts funding to the rural research and development corporations (RDCs) for nationally coordinated, strategic research that delivers real outcomes for Australian producers.

Total funding for the program is $157 million over eight years. All projects will be completed by June 2023.

The Rural R&D for Profit program aims to improve farm-gate productivity and profitability and deliver real outcomes for Australian farmers.
