Biosecurity protects Australia’s plant, animal and human health by reducing the risk of unwanted pests and diseases arriving and establishing in the country.
Before you import goods to Australia, it is important that you understand your responsibilities as an importer and the import conditions that may apply to your goods. Complying with these requirements can reduce costly delays and help keep biosecurity risks offshore.
If you are staging or participating in an event where you need to bring equipment to Australia on a temporary basis, then you need to organise clearance with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (the department) and the Department of Home Affairs.
