Sustainable Agriculture Facilitators - backing Aussie farmers to grow every day!

It’s National Agriculture Day and the theme is, ‘Grow you good thing’. Today, we’d like to share a good thing we know that is backing Aussie farmers to grow.

The path to achieving climate-smart, sustainable agriculture outcomes can be complex and requires collaborative efforts and robust partnerships across various sectors and communities.

That’s why the Australian Government has invested $40.7 million in the Sustainable Agriculture Facilitator (SAF) network, funded through the Natural Heritage Trust’s Climate-Smart Agriculture Program.

Spread across 52 regions Australia-wide, SAF’s are a designated point of contact for farmers, landholders and community groups.

They provide one-on-one support to adopt climate-smart practices that are good for sustainable land management and help to grow business and productivity.

Looking to adopt best practice natural resource management and lower on-farm emissions in the NSW Riverina region? Contact your local SAF, Jade Auldist.

Searching for an industry partnership to achieve sustainable agriculture outcomes in South Tasmania? Tim Ackroyd, your local SAF has the connections.

Need a hand delivering sustainable agriculture projects in South Australia Arid Lands? Andrea Tschirner has a few ideas and is ready to help.

"The thing I enjoy most about working as a SAF is the diversity in my role. I love supporting landholders to access best-practice land management information and monitoring tools, facilitating field days and paddock-based information sessions, and working with researchers to support on-ground research that helps to foster regenerative land management practices," Andrea said.

There is a lot of information and a lot of opportunities out there to adopt climate-smart agriculture practices. As a farmer, reaching out to your local SAF can be a game-changer.

Find out more about your local SAF, including their contact details.
