On Friday November 10 2017, Dr Nicholas Gales told a Parliamentary committee the following:

“We undertook an inspection of the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station. We were going to undertake an inspection of another country on the way through, one of the Chinese bases, but it was not operating from there during that summer so we didn't undertake that. “

1. Documents dated between 31 August 2018 and 21 February 2019 being or evidencing the reasons for which the Department of Environment and Energy and/or the Minister for the Environment or her office of delegate recommended and/or made the Decision under s 10 of the Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Heritage Protection Act 1984 (Cth) to make Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Heritage Protection (Butterfly Cave, West Wallsend, NSW) Declaration 2019 on 31 January 2019, including, but not limited to, any assessment report prepared by the Department of Environment and Energy for the purposes of advising the Minister in relation to the Decision.
2. The report prepared by Dr Susan McIntyre-Tamwoy and submitted in September 2017 to the former Minister for the Environment and Energy, the Hon Josh Frydenberg MP, in accordance with the subsection 10(4) of the ATSIHP Act.
