Five Regional Forest Agreements (RFAs) are in place in three Australian states.
- New South Wales: Eden, North East (Upper and Lower) and Southern NSW regions.
- Western Australia: South-West forest region.
- Tasmania: The RFA covers the state.
The RFAs cover forested regions where commercial wood production is a major native forest use in New South Wales and Tasmania. Western Australia ceased commercial native forest harvesting on 1 January 2024. However, the Western Australia RFA continues to be in place for the sustainable management of forests in the south-west region of Western Australia.
The five Victorian RFAs ended on 31 December 2024. Historical information about the agreements is available at the Victorian RFAs page.
The Commonwealth and Queensland Government completed a Comprehensive Regional Assessment for South-East Queensland but did not sign an RFA. Historical information regarding this assessment can be accessed via the Queensland - South East webpage.
