2022-12: Changes to applying for certification to export edible honey and apiculture products to Qatar

21 October 2022

Purpose

This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise industry that export certification for edible honey and apiculture products to Qatar will be moved to the Next Export Documentation System (NEXDOC) system from 27 October 2022.

Manual certificate applications will no longer be available for edible honey and apiculture products to this market.

Summary of changes and key points

  • From 27 October 2022, exporters must use NEXDOC to apply for HQT1 certification for edible honey and bee products to Qatar.
  • From 27 October 2022, manual HQT1 certification will no longer be issued. Exporters using the manual application form to export edible honey and apiculture products to Qatar must lodge any final applications by 5pm AEDT, 24 October 2022. This will ensure the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry can process the application prior to 27 October 2022.
  • The manual certification application form must be used for exporters requesting a replacement certificate for any manual certificate issued for edible honey and bee products to Qatar prior to 27 October 2022.
  • The department is implementing NEXDOC for honey and bee products in phases. Further information is available in IAN 2022-02. A full list of honey markets transitioned to NEXDOC is outlined on the transitioning to NEXDOC webpage.
  • Exporters of honey and bee products to Qatar (and other countries transitioned to NEXDOC) can register for NEXDOC through the online services portal. More information on how to register as an exporter is available at NEXDOC help page.
  • Exporters of honey and bee products to countries which have not transitioned to NEXDOC, will continue with the current manual application form - Application for a government export certificate for non-prescribed goods - until the relevant market is transitioned to NEXDOC.
  • The department will publish additional IANs advising of updates to the system and when more markets are moved to NEXDOC.
