Organic operators and exporters, organic approved certifying bodies, industry bodies.
Purpose
To notify industry of the withdrawal of NASAA Certified Organic as an organic approved certifying body on 26 June 2025.
Key points
On 26 June 2025, NASAA Certified Organic withdrew from certification activities associated with the Australian National Standard for Organic and Bio-Dynamic Produce.
NASAA Certified Organic will no longer:
- assess new applicants and certify organic/bio-dynamic operators/exporters as compliant with Australia’s export requirements,
- assess and recertify current organic and bio-dynamic operators to determine compliance to the National Standard for Organic and Bio-Dynamic Produce and importing country requirements,
- issue organic goods certificates, prior to export, for consignments of organic and bio-dynamic goods exported from Australia.
Considerations
The department has developed a policy and is working with approved certifying bodies to assist NASAA Certified Organic operators in maintaining and complying with the National Standard for Organic and Bio-Dynamic Produce certification requirements.
This policy has been provided to approved certifying bodies. NASAA Certified Organic-certified operators should contact an alternate approved certifying body to discuss next steps.
If any issues arise, operators are encouraged to contact OrganicExports@aff.gov.au for assistance.

Background
The Export Control (Organic Goods) Rules 2021 enable the department to assess an organic certification body and formally recognise it as a holder of an approved arrangement for organic goods certification operations, that is, an approved certifying body. The Export Control Act 2020 enables the holder of an approved arrangement to cease operating and undergo revocation.
